Evaluation of the productive parameters in pigs using the molecule Silicoglycidol

OBJECTIVE

In an in vivo trial carried out in the United States in 2012, the effect of using Silicoglycidol against another mycotoxin binder Alquerfeed Antitox on the productive parameters in pigs fed contaminated feed was evaluated.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

The trial lasted for 14 days. Pigs’ initial body weight was 63 kg (approximately), they were fed a diet based on corn and divided into 3 different batches:

Batch 1, control: Standard diet without contamination

Batch 2, binder: Contaminated feed + binder

Batch 3, Silicoglycidol: Contaminated feed + Silicoglycidol

Contaminated feed contained 4 ppm of vomitoxin and 1 ppm of zearalenone.

RESULTS

ADG: Average Daily Gain; ADFI: Average Daily Feed Intake; FCR: Feed Conversion Rate

CONCLUSIONS

With the use of Silicoglycidol in pigs, an improvement of 13.28% in feed conversion rate was observed, compared to the other binder.

Silicoglycidol is a patented molecule, developed from a process by which the structure of natural silicates is modified to create a molecule with a structure that optimizes the adsorption of mycotoxins, which are not desorbed in any of the conditions of the digestive tract, so mycotoxins are expelled with the feces. Silicoglycidol is commercialized in the product Alquerfeed Antitox, from Biovet S.A
