INTRODUCTION
In Spain in 1999, the effect of Alquernat Zycox intestinal optimizer pronutrients to control coccidiosis was evaluated in comparison with chemical coccidiostats in industrial poultry. Different parameters were evaluated at the end of the productive cycle and conclusions were established on the two products.

MATERIAL AND METHODS
This study was conducted with broilers up to 45 days of age, throughout the productive cycle, and they were divided into two batches with the two treatments:
•    Batch 1: Chemical coccidiostats: nicarbazin (0 – 14 days) + nicarbazin – narasin (15 – 28 days) + salinomycin (29 – 40 days) + no treatment (41-45 days).
•    Batch 2: Intestinal optimizer pronutrients (0 – 45 days).

FINAL CONCLUSIONS OF THE TRIAL
There are no significant differences between the parameters:
•    Average weight
•    Daily weight gain
•    Feed conversion rate

However, there is an important difference regarding the cumulative mortality expressed as a percentage, with the best results in the group of intestinal optimizer pronutrients.
This product based on intestinal optimizer pronutrients, manufactured by Biovet, is commercially available under the name Alquernat Zycox.
